A Justified Crime ENG

This song was inspired after reading  "Rashomon" from Ryunosuke Akutagawa, this tale got me thinking about how a turn of events or a change in your life can make you do things that you thought were unacceptable and now the become the next most logical step to take, like murderer or stealing, once inconsiderable now necessary.

I was thinking about a catholic confession when I wrote the lyrics, that explains the "Father can you forgive me" stuff, but it can be interpreted on many ways, Julian for example thinks that a justified crime happens when a kid steals some bread just because he is hungry.

Past Saturday I was watching some news and a thief said that he did what he did because the situation was hard now days, definitely to justify a crime it all depends on the context, we can name some political crimes, or some state politics but its barely Monday, so why start the week whit the wrong foot.

A Justified Crime

Este tema se inspiro en el cuento Rashomon de Ryunosuke Akutagawa, la historia me puso a pensar acerca de como un giro de eventos o un cambio en la vida de una persona puede hacer que algo que anteriormente era impensable hoy resulte como un paso lógico, como un robo o un asesinato que anteriormente fueran inconcebibles, hoy sean necesarios.

La letra se escribió pensando en una especie de confesión católica, de ahí lo de "padre puedes perdonarme" pero aplica para muchas cosas, para Julián por ejemplo un crimen justificado es el que comete un niño que se roba un pan por que tiene hambre.

En días pasados veía noticias y un ladrón decía que hacia lo que hacia por que la situación estaba muy dura, definitivamente la justificación para un crimen para cada quien viene del contexto, podríamos nombrar algunos crímenes políticos y algunas políticas de estado pero apenas el lunes, para que amargarnos el resto de la semana.

A Jokers Vengeance ENG

When you read  Poe it can get predictable sometimes, but it´s then when a tale like "Hop Frog" jumps out and stands from the rest, it makes you evaluate everything you've said about the author at the moment.

This tale got me thinking that, at some point on our life we ended up been someones else joker, our class mates, our boss, or from people who think, that they are better because some divine power told them so.

I've  always thought that all jokers one way or another deserve their vengeance, the bullied kid at college who ends up succeeding in life and hires his abuser for a minimum wage, the employed who get promoted and ends up firing his abuser.

A Jokers Vengeance, "Some day you will learn, everything can change, you are not superior and it will be remembered as the day you begged, you cried to me."

A Jokers Vengeance

A veces cuando se lee mucho a Poe la cosa puede ponerse un poco repetitiva y predecible, es ahí cuando un cuento como "Hop Frog" aparece y te hace replantear todo lo que habías dicho hasta ese momento.

Este cuento me hizo pensar que en algún momento de nuestras vidas todos hemos sido bufones de otros, de nuestros compañeros, de nuestros jefes o de personas que se consideran superiores por que alguna clase de derecho divino así lo ha indicado.

Siempre he pensado que todos los bufones de alguna forma u otra merecen su venganza, el chico abusado en el colegio que logra triunfar y termina teniendo a su abusador como empleado, el empleado que lo ascienden y queda por encima de la persona que abusaba de el.

A Jokers Vengeance, Algún día aprenderás de mi mano que todo puede cambiar. no eres superior y sera recordado como el día en que me suplicaste y me lloraste a mi.

Life Sentence ENG

"Life Sentence" was inspired after reading "La compuerta Numero 12" from Baldomero Lillo, it´s one of those stories that makes you think about the so called "economic progress", for the ones with  some social conscience it´s very hard to see how progress means that the poor stay poor and the rich get richer.

This story develops inside a mine were a little boy is forced to work on an age were he should be attending school, he´s working not by force, lack of conciseness, but by need, a poor father that puts his son to work so his family can eat, a child that will never study an is condemned to be poor for life.   

Thats what "Life Sentence" is all about, once poor, you are condemned to be poor for life, some exceptions may apply here of course, but poverty is a big monster that eats his own sons, one by one, condemned for life to follow that cycle themselves and their own.

When I Think about it, when I read the story, or listen to the song, it always hits me one way or the other...

Life Sentence

"Life Sentence" fue inspirada en el cuento "La compuerta numero 12" de Baldomero Lillo, es una de esas historias que te ponen a pensar acerca de lo que es el llamado progreso económico, para los que tenemos algún grado de conciencia social es difícil ver como el progreso de la sociedad implica siempre que los pobres sean mas pobres y los ricos mas ricos.

La historia de la mina narrada en este cuento muestra como un pequeño niño es forzado a trabajar en una edad en la que debería estar estudiando, no por tiranía, falta de conciencia, si no por necesidad, un padre pobre que debe obligar a su hijo a trabajar para poder comer, un hijo que no podrá estudiar y se condenara de por vida a ser pobre.  

De eso trata "Life Sentence", una ves eres pobre, estarás condenado a ser pobre de por vida, eso con algunas excepciones claro esta, la pobreza es como un monstruo que se como a sus hijos uno a uno, condenados de por vida ellos y los suyos a seguir ese ciclo.  

Siempre que pienso en eso, leo el cuento o escucho la canción me golpea de una forma u otra...
